Stop Summer Hunger with Common Heart

YOU can be a lifeline to families experiencing hunger this summer. Spread awareness, raise funds, be a part of this small revolution of kindness!

Let's Keep This Kindness Revolution Going!

We have officially met our $40,000 goal. YAHOO! But let's not stop there! Let's try to reach $60,000 by August 15th! The more we raise, the more we support our neighbors.

Summer is tough for families experiencing food insecurity and poverty. As children are home from school and costs are up and food stamp benefits are down, we - as a community - can be a lifeline meeting a very real, urgent need.

No one should have to face the challenges of summer hunger alone. Together, we can be the lifeline!

Every Dollar Makes a Difference

Food to Fill the Gap

We got a note on Facebook recently from a local Mom looking for help with groceries. They’re caught in the gap, she said, between making just a little too much to qualify for food stamps but not enough to cover all their meals. “With inflation we are struggling to make ends meet,” she said. She was able to receive food at one of our local pantries to fill the gap to feed her family. $25 IMPACT: a week's worth of groceries for a family experiencing food insecurity.

Emergency Support

In one day last week we gave out a staggering 7 emergency boxes of food to local families challenged by hunger. Some were struggling after food stamp cuts, one had hours cut back at work, and three of those families were Ukrainian or Russian refugees who recently moved here. The reasons that brought them to Common Heart were different but the need was the same: food. $100 IMPACT: A week's worth of groceries for 4 families experiencing poverty.

Hope & Friendship

Last week one of our Mill Grove evening pantry volunteers met a Russian refugee couple who are expecting their first child. They’re new to the Hemby Bridge area and heard about us from our friends at one of our local partner churches. They knew they could get help with groceries but what they didn’t expect, they said, was the kindness of our volunteers. “This feels like family,” the husband said. “The fact that you're sitting here spending the time talking to us means so much.” $500 IMPACT: Sponsor a mobile pantry, providing the lifeline of food for hundreds of neighbors just like these.

Summer is one of the most challenging times for families facing food insecurity. Common Heart's community of families, friends, and neighbors provides the lifeline of food through its 11 pantry programs.
